Interview with Imogen

Nobody's Hero Part 1

I interviewed Imogen near the beginning of

Nobody's Hero Part 1

Age: 17yrs

What are your hobbies? Do you have any talents?

I love to dance, I have been dancing since I was a child. I also love writing.
I write stories, poetry, song lyrics.
I sing in the church band and do Youth Outreach, basically some dance and acting, and occasionally some things like graffiti, the legal stuff though!

I also love surfing, and kayaking. I have sailed in the past, but I like to be alone on the sea.
I also love nature. I love to sit and watch the birds and see how everything works in perfect synchronicity

Since meeting Rob I guess I can add riding bikes! I love riding and spending time with Rob.
Being on a bike is the most amazing feeling!

I love being able to just jump on the pillion seat and just enjoy. It clears my mind. I can't ride myself yet,
though am planning on learning soon.

I can't wait to be able to ride myself, though for speed I'll always have his pillion seat!
Rob let me have a go at riding Buzby but he said never again...

Apparently that pushed the boundaries of our friendship! He loves that bike way too much!!!!
Though I'm kinda falling in love with Buzby too..

I know it's just a bike but she's got feelings. she reminds me of that beetle - Herbie.

I guess I've always been a bit of an adrenaline junkie, you should hear some of the scrapes I got into as a kid..

But Rob has kind of brought that back out of me. Life with him is never boring!

Where do you live? Do you have any siblings?

I live with my Dad, though sometimes it's like house sharing! I moved in with him when I was 13yrs old.
I have a sister called Leslie but she's 10yrs older than me so we've not really that close growing up...

Maybe one day when I'm not such a kid!

What is your favourite music?

I don't have a favourite genre of music. I love many different styles. I like a song to speak to me, to touch me.

Or that I can dance too, or sing..

I love singing powerful songs like Evanescance. My favourite song to sing in Church is Oceans.

Some of my favourites are:- BonJovi, Capercaillie, Evanescence, Meatloaf, Idina Menzel, Beth Crowley,

Sixpence non the richer, the Corrs, Lady Antebellum, Avril Lavigne, Pink, Danny Gokey, and Matthew West.

But the list really is endless!

I guess the only genre I struggle with is classical, but even then there are some beautiful pieces!

What is your favourite Colour?

Blue! Ocean Blue to me more exact. Though I'm also a bit of a lilac/purple girl depending on my mood.

Do you believe in anything? Do you have a faith?

Yeah, I am a Christian and I have a real faith. I was baptised just over a year ago when I as 16. I guess I'm not your typical 'Christian'.

I don't always fit in at some churches. I find many Christians too judgmental and nothing like Jesus.

I get a bit annoyed at people who say they are and don't live it, and I really don't like judgmental people...

Only God can judge! I love and accept anyone.
I follow the mantra - WWJD (What would Jesus do).

Luckily I've found a church full of like minded Christians who make me feel like I'm family.

I'm also a bit of a free spirit, I wont just go along with the crowd and try to fit in.

I love watching things like charmed, Angel (David Boreanez is so hot!!!), ghost whisperer, and twilight..
Which doesn't go down well with some... I used to believe in fairies!
I celebrate the summer and winter solstice.
I guess you could say I have a little bit of a hippy in me. I am me.

I don't conform to boxes and pigeon holes even though people try to make me.
I'm unique, luckily there is only one of me, I doubt the world could cope with another!

What is your first Memory?

My first memory is as a child, I think about 4yrs old. Playing and dancing on Cullercoats Beach. I was with my father.

We had been collecting willicks and playing in rockpools.

I remember being on the sand barefoot, spinning around trying to copy a pirouette which I had seen on TV.

I was spinning around and around until I began to get dizzy and lost my balance. I can remembering my father's laughter,

as I fell onto the sand. I remember my fathers outstretched arms, they seemed so big back then...

He helped me to my feet before spinning me around, holding tightly onto my wrists as I began to fly.

The beach turned into a golden blur, flying.

Relationships? Do you have anyone special in your life?

I'm engaged to Jacob, though his family don't know. They hate me. I really love Jacob.
We've been together over a year now. The first few months were amazing, and I know he loves me but since I started college and he went to Uni things have been different.

I don't think he likes the new and improved me, and hates bikes.
Rob's making me see cracks, I don't know what to think anymore, but I believe in not cutting and running at the first sign of trouble.

You work at relationships, and I've gone all the way if you get my drift so I'm stuck with him now.

Someone special in my life?? I guess Rob could fit that description. He is my best friend,
I don't like the word soulmate when I have a boyfriend but there’s something deeper than a normal friendship,

There isn't an attraction, not in a physical way, we're more like twins..
He is the only one who knows me inside out, he knows things about me and my past that no-one else knows, not even Jacob.

Maybe that is wrong but it felt right. I am a bit of a mess mentally, though I don't think anyone else notices, but it's like Rob can see inside my head and always finds a way to help me find my way back to level ground.
I've no idea what life is going to throw but I have a feeling that whatever happens, he will always be a big part of my life.

What are your goals for the future?

I have another year at college, then I don't know... I have no idea what the future holds.

I have dreams but I doubt I can make them into reality.
I dream of dancing in the West End, and Broadway, though I can't imagine moving to America.
Jacob a wants me to move to Durham to be with him.
He's never actually said so but he always insinuates that I'm not good enough to study dance, or make a career out of it.

I guess he's right and don't know if I can risk the rejection.
